When you order qurban through Qurban Story, one of the first choices you'll make is how you want the meat distributed. There are three options — Tebar, Kaleng, and Jabodetabek — each designed for a different situation and intent. Understanding the difference helps you make the choice that best fits your family's needs and your values.

This guide breaks down each option in detail, explains who should choose what, compares prices across all grades, and examines the Islamic perspective on each distribution method.

💡 In Indonesian: Tebar = distribusi penuh · Kaleng = sepertiga dikirim sebagai daging kaleng · Jabodetabek = hewan hidup diantarkan ke area Jakarta

Option 1: Tebar — Full Distribution

Tebar — Animal Fully Distributed in Indonesia

With Tebar, your entire qurban animal is slaughtered and distributed to families in need across Indonesia. The meat goes directly to villages and communities — often rural areas where families rarely have access to protein-rich food. For many recipients, the qurban distribution is their most significant meal of the year.

Our partner cooperatives handle the distribution, documenting every step. You receive:

Choose Tebar if: You want maximum charity impact and don't need your family to receive physical meat. You trust that your qurban reaches those who need it most. You prioritise the spirit of sharing over family connection.

Pilih Tebar jika: kamu ingin dampak amal maksimal dan keluargamu tidak perlu menerima daging secara langsung.

Option 2: Kaleng — Canned Meat to Your Family

Family Connection

Kaleng — 1/3 Canned, 2/3 Distributed

With Kaleng, one-third of your animal's meat is processed and sealed into cans (daging kaleng). These cans are shipped to your family's address anywhere in Indonesia. The remaining two-thirds of the meat is distributed to families in need, just like Tebar.

Canned qurban meat has several practical advantages:

The number of cans varies by grade: Plus (21-25kg) yields approximately 8 cans; Premier (26-30kg) yields 10 cans; Prestige (36-40kg) yields 14 cans.

Choose Kaleng if: You want your family to physically receive and taste your qurban, but your family isn't in the Jakarta area (or can't receive a live animal). The canned option bridges the gap between full distribution and family delivery.

Pilih Kaleng jika: kamu ingin keluargamu merasakan langsung daging qurbanmu, tapi keluarga tidak berada di area Jabodetabek.

Option 3: Jabodetabek — Live Animal Delivery

Traditional Experience

Jabodetabek — Live Animal to Your Family's Door

If your family lives in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, or Bekasi, we deliver a live, healthy, ready-for-qurban sheep directly to their address. Your family slaughters the animal themselves on Eid morning — in the traditional way, in their own neighbourhood, with their own community.

This is the most direct, experiential option. It replicates the traditional qurban experience as closely as possible for your family, while you watch via video call from abroad. Many diaspora describe this as the most emotionally meaningful option.

Key details:

Choose Jabodetabek if: Your family is in the Jakarta metropolitan area and wants the full, traditional Eid qurban experience with a live animal. Your family can arrange their own slaughter with a local ustaz or butcher.

Pilih Jabodetabek jika: keluargamu di area Jakarta dan ingin pengalaman qurban tradisional dengan hewan hidup.

The price difference between Tebar and the other two options (Kaleng and Jabodetabek) reflects the additional cost of processing (canning) or logistics (live animal transport). The Kaleng and Jabodetabek prices are identical — what differs is the delivery method.

The Islamic Perspective on Each Option

All three distribution options are Islamically valid. The fundamental requirement of qurban — that the animal be slaughtered halal and the meat be distributed — is met by all three.

On Tebar: Distributing the entire qurban to those in need is a highly commendable act and aligns strongly with the spirit of qurban as an act of charity and generosity toward the community. Many scholars consider full community distribution to be the most meritorious approach.

On Kaleng (sending to family): Islamic guidance on qurban traditionally encourages distributing one-third to family, one-third to neighbours, and one-third to those in need. The Kaleng option closely follows this traditional three-way distribution model. It is not only permissible but aligned with prophetic guidance.

On Jabodetabek (live delivery): Having your family perform the slaughter locally is perhaps the most traditional approach — it reconnects your family to the act of qurban in the most direct way. As long as the slaughter is performed by a knowledgeable Muslim following proper Islamic procedure, this is fully valid and rich in religious value.
